This project comprises the design and build construction of a single-story, shell only, retail store for Sainsbury’s with a GIA of 1610m2. The project is located on a green field site on the outskirts of Olney Town. 


This new supermarket has been constructed on foundations consisting of concrete driven piles, reinforced pile caps and ground beams, with a ground bearing floor slab over. A steel framed superstructure supports an envelope of Topdek roofing, Benchmark Carrier Panel wall cladding overlaid with a mixture of brickwork and louver panels, PPC aluminum curtain walling screens, doors and windows. Flat metal facia and verge panels together with sawn larch timber soffits completes the very modern feel for this store.


This project also includes all associated external works such as soft landscaping and drainage. This consists of bypass interceptors, storage crate attenuation and 500m of adopted pumping main within the highway to facilitate a new AWA foul pumping station – all constructed to adoptable standards.


There were also extensive new services to the site involved such as HV power, LV power, a new substation, gas, water, BT, comprehensive ducting installations for cable suppliers, CCTV, signage, external lighting, street furniture and future infrastructure required for the adjacent future housing development site. 


Extensive new S278 highways works to Warrington Rd, Lavendon Rd and Drift Way were carried out for access into the new development. This included two new site entrances, a carpark, a new pedestrian crossing, splitter islands, bus stops, cycle paths, footways, road markings and street lighting, together with all associated highway signage.
